I am a Ph.D. from Texas A&M University, College Station and a Master of Science from University of Southern California with specialties on Linguistics and Teaching English as a Foreign/Second Language. So far, I had ever worked for National Sun Yat-sen University as an assistant professor at Department of Foreign Languages and Literature. Also, I had worked as a post-doc researcher, who translates Chinese theses into English journals for Department of Library and Science, National Taiwan University of English Thesis.
Personally, I am especially interested in teaching subjects like Linguistics, English Education (TESOL), Qualitative & Quantitative Methodologies of TESOL studies, Sociolinguistics, Pragmatics, Multicultural Studies, and Theories of Translation. The topic of my PhD dissertation is about Oral Training (Communication Strategies) that is associated with subjects of Linguistics and TESL Pedagogies.
A full-time tenure-track position as university professor is the cause why I pursue my philosophical doctoral degree. I aim my life goal on publishing higher level papers in SSCI level and pass exams of various types of professional licenses, based on my own expertise.
慧菁是美國德州農工大學，大學城分校的哲學博士；美國南加州大學教育學院的理學碩士。自2000至2007年於美國主修的學科多半為「英語為第二語言/外國語言之教學方法」、「應用語言學」及「社會語言學」。至今，我曾於高雄市國立中山大學外國語文學系任職約聘教授一年，也曾經於國立台灣大學圖書資訊學系暨研究所擔任博士後研究人員。我特別希望教授與研究的科目是 「語言學」「社會語言學」、「語用學」、「第二語研習得」、「口筆譯學理」、與 「文化研究」，個人對於許多其他的科目也曾經用心研習過，包括「文學之心理分析」，「法國文學」 與「西洋哲學史」。
我畢業論文的主題是關於口語訓練（溝通策略）的方法，理論基礎為「語意學」、「跨文化研究」暨「英語教學法」。慧菁認為一個大學的老師應具備完整豐富的專業學術能力，受過嚴格的學術考驗，才能有資格教授成年的學子，因此慧菁除了完成在臺灣正規的大學教育外，並且至美國紐約、加州與法國巴黎，於四所語言學校進修過，又赴美研修118研究所碩士班與博士班的學術專業的學分。追求博士學位的原因是希望與莘莘學子分享知識的樂趣與追尋生命中的理想。
